Primary School - Grades 1 to 4
"Around here, we don't look backwards for very long... We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things because we are curious... and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths." ~ Walt Disney
ISC believes that our students are naturally curious and ready for learning.
At ISC, we treat learning like eating and breathing. Every child is born with an ability to learn. We help foster and support this learning and growth. A great school is the one that enables a thirst for knowledge and creates lifelong learners.
In our Primary School, we believe in enhancing students' understanding of relevant concepts for today's world and the future. We develop skills, build knowledge and apply student learning in a variety of new contexts.
Our children are empowered to solve problems, they question the world around them, and develop in a collaborative, supportive environment.
We enhance our students' 21st Century Learning Skills by providing engaging learning experiences.
This evidence is quite simple. If we consider each student as a unique person who has his or her own learning speed and his or her individual work system, then we have almost reached our goal. If we allow these children to learn by discovering with all their senses, then ISC students are ready for learning.
This fact presupposes the recognition of individualised and self-directed learning. This may be experienced if a constructive approach to the diversity of pupils is constantly present. This is the great challenge of our time.
In order to meet this task, ISC engages educators that have fun in diversity. They recognise the strength of an innovative educational system.
ISC Academic Programme
The International School Campus Hamburg developed its own primary curriculum, based on the framework of Schleswig-Holstein and international academic standards.
ISC Primary Curriculum
The ISC Primary Curriculum is a comprehensive, thematic, creative curriculum for Grades 1-4 with a clear process of learning and with specific learning goals for every subject, for international mindedness and for personal learning.
The ISC Primary Curriculum defines International Learning Goals that help young students begin the move towards an increasingly sophisticated national, international, global and intercultural perspective and to develop a sense of international mindedness.
The curriculum is developed across different subjects and learning-focused activities that help children to start developing a global awareness and gain an increasing sense of themselves, their community and the world around them, as well as inspiring positive action and engagement with global issues.
